New Assessment System 2015 2016 / New Fees Required for Entering Cohorts, Multiple Subjects and Single Subjects Credential Programs
Beginning with 2015-2016, the Department of Secondary Education will be using the edTPA system for the Teacher Performance Assessment of its student teachers. To read more about edTPA(link is external), please visit this website:http://www.pearsonassessments.com/teacherlicensure/edtpa.html (link is external). This is a state-mandated assessment, and candidates must take and pass the assessment prior to being recommended for a credential. edTPA is a performance-based assessment process designed by educators to answer the essential question of whether new teachers are ready for the job. The edTPA is typically taken in the last semester of the credential programs, and further information will be provided in the courses.
Also beginning with Fall 2015 admission to Single Subject and Multiple Subject regular education credential programs, students will be required to pay a $300 fee for the edTPA during the final semester of the program.
